It gives her an idea for getting even with Pierpont. While Pierpont sleeps, Tracy reads an on-flight magazine about Brazil and is particularly interested in an environmental article concerning the erosion problem along the coast of the country. Tracy introduces herself as the Countess Valentia Di Sorrento, a name she has taken before. So when Tracy is on the plane to Brazil, her seatmate introduces himself as Maximilian Pierpont, one of the corporate raiders she has been out to get all these years. It happened to her mother when her father died and Joe Romano bought up their company and stripped it, leaving her mother penniless. It has to do with her hatred of the corporate raiders, those individuals who buy up corporations and strip them. However, Tracy can’t resist just one more. In doing so, Tracy and Jeff “outwitted” the Dutch police and an insurance agent, Daniel Cooper, who followed them all over Europe.īut the couple is putting all this behind them - no more capers. Their most recent caper has been to steal the priceless Lucullan Diamond from the Netherlands diamond-cutting factory in Amsterdam.

Their victims have been the rich, corrupt and greedy. Together Jeff and Tracy have carried out enough capers to have more money than they can use in a lifetime. Jeff is the second-most-talented con artist in the world, second only to Tracy. And, that is such a wonderful moment.This is not any ordinary couple. In Swedish, the title is Tracy's Hämnd, Tracy's revenge, but I kind of prefer the English title since there is a point towards the end when the title get's its explanation. It's just great fun to read this book, well the prison part is not so fun. But it works, the book is terrific and Sheldon really knew how to write an engaging story about a woman who after being framed fights back against those that framed her and then became a brilliant thief.

There are things like that in the book, like more heists, more dialog, and a different ending. I much prefer how they first met in the miniseries, it feels more like fate than the one in the book. Like for instance, Tracy meeting Jeff in the beginning of the miniseries instead on the train in the book. I must confess that I do prefer the miniseries, but I still love this book and they have made a very good job with the miniseries because most of the story is there from the book. It's just been a couple of months since I saw the miniseries last, so my memory is quite fresh when it comes to the story. But I wanted to read this book again since I've planned to read the sequel by Tilly Bagshawe. I've seen the miniseries If Tomorrow Comes several times and I have read this book many years ago.
